Hawkeye Football | Wayback Machine | 1976 Iowa at #11 Penn State
Blogger is not allowing us to post pictures today so the next game program will have to wait (boo hoo). Luckily, the Hawkeye Historian uploaded a new video for us all to enjoy. This one comes from the 70's, an era that wasn't so kind to the Hawks.
The 1976 Hawkeyes started the season off with a loss to Illinois. The conference opener was scheduled before Iowa went on to play three non conference games.
In week two the Hawkeyes pounded Syracuse 41-3 to enter the match-up with #11 ranked Penn State 1-1.
The 7-6 win over #11 ranked Penn State was a big one for the Bob Commings led Hawks. After the win they went on to drop the next three and end the season 5-6. The 70's was an ugly time for Iowa football, kudos to the Hawkeye Historian for finding one of the bright spots.
