Hawkeye Basketball | Best of Twitter Updates | Gesell and Woodbury Day One

Two High School hoopsters the Hawkeyes are recruiting are participating in the NBPA Top 100 tournament this weekend. There are several recruitniks and hoops junkies tweeting live from the tourney. Here are what they are saying about Hawkeye recruiting targets Adam Woodbury and Mike Gesell (and some Marcus Paige tweets too):

N.D. Kendrick

Adam Woodbury continues his quality play here. I just love his game. M.Paige with a nice run of 8 straight. 2 NBA threes.

Hawkeye Basketball | Iowa Offers 2012 Combo Guard Ray Lee

Per the Recruit Scoop:

Lee is a 6'4" combo guard from Romulus Michigan. Scout.com lists Lee as a three star prospect. ESPN recruiting gives Lee three-stars and a 90 scouts grade. He will attend Huntington Prep in West Virginia this year.

Per Scout, Lee holds offers from Baylor, Central Michigan, Detroit, Iowa State, and Rhode Island.

UMHoops had an interview with Lee (from last year) here.

There are several YouTube videos of Lee, here are a couple:

It's Iowa Hawkeye Day on the Big Ten Network!

Get your DVR's set or just plop down on the couch in front of a TV. It's (almost) all Iowa, all day on the Big Ten Network. Here is a screen shot from the BTN's TV programming for 6/15(click to enlarge):

Note: There is a Michigan and Purdue football game in there and some crappy campus programming (nap time!) but Chuck Long is in the best QB's of the 80's so I stretched to include that.

Hawkeye Football | Wayback Machine | 1983 #3 Ohio State at #7 Iowa

My favorite YouTuber TheHawkyeHistorian continues to roll out the footage and continues to make my day. His latest upload, less than 24 hours old, is a classic from 1983.

The '83 Hawkeyes entered the early season match-up with the Buckeyes at 2-0. They would finish the season ranked #14 and at 9-3. The 9-2 regular season record landed Iowa in the Gator bowl where they lost to the Florida Gators.
